The SEC is arguably the most thorough conference in college football, but the Big Ten might have something to say about it. However, the SEC introduces its Western Division, which is arguably the toughest division in the sport, but in the East it quietly becomes a loaded field of seven schools. Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz thought so, especially with defending national champion Georgia in that group. Drinkwitz opened on improving SEC East depth.
“Well, we have the defending national champion (on our side), Drinkwitz said. a great job in South Carolina. I think Coach Lee is a terrific football coach and has direction for the program he wants. Obviously, I think it’s a strong league. I mean, every time you turn on the tape you’re facing a guy who’s going to play in the NFL who’s probably going to be drafted in the first two rounds It’s hard for me to quantify that question but I think it’s definitely a strong league.
Missouri itself is a booming program under Drinkwitz, but right behind Georgia is Florida, which has hired Billy Napier as the new head coach and has a lot of good recent stories. Additionally, Kentucky had another great season, as well as Tennessee, which exceeded expectations in the first year under Josh Heupel.
Volunteers also present the Heisman Trophy dark horse Hendon Hooker at quarterback.
Don’t forget South Carolina who had a positive season under Shane Beamer in Year 1. Vanderbilt is rebuilding, but has a solid man in place as head coach Clark Leah.
Drinkwitz is 11-12 going into his third year with the Tigers. The team went 6-7 and qualified for the Armed Forces Bowl in 2021.
“As for the University of Missouri, I’m so excited about going into 3rd grade,” Drinkwitz said. “Although we have had changes in staff and players, there is continuity in our program. There is a basis to the program that we have instilled. That’s how we do it here. There is an understanding of what it will take to train with an elite advantage with Coach Russell There is an understanding of what we expect on the attacking and defensive side of the ball There is an understanding of what it’s going to be to excel in academics and our program. We’ve added 19 members to our program to balance our roster of people who have left, but also to increase competition. We’ve signed the highest recruiting class in the school history over the past two seasons, and we are looking to increase the talent and increase the style of play that we have.
